- 7 c. popcorn, popped (1/2 c. unpopped)
- 3/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/3 c. margarine
- 3 Tbsp. light corn syrup
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. peanuts (if desired)
Directions

1Place popcorn in greased 17 x 12 x 2-inch baking pan.

2Keep warm in 300° oven. Butter sides of 1 1/2-quart pan.

3Combine sugar, margarine and corn syrup.

4Cook until boiling.

5Stir with wooden spoon to dissolve sugar 7 to 10 minutes.

6Cook until hard ball stage, 4 minutes.

7Add baking soda and vanilla.

8Stir until combined.

9Pour caramel mixture over popcorn.

10Stir gently to coat.

11Bake in 300° oven for 10 minutes.

12Stir.

13Bake for 5 minutes more.

14Remove from heat before adding baking soda. Turn popcorn mix onto large piece of foil.

15Cool completely.

16Break into small pieces.
