- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 stick oleo
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Melt 1/2 cup of sugar in an iron skillet slowly until brown and runny.

2Mix egg, oleo and remaining sugar with milk in a large saucepan.

3Cook over low heat until oleo melts.

4Turn heat to medium and add browned sugar.

5Cook to soft ball stage (238°). Remove from heat.

6Cool slightly.

7Add vanilla.

8Beat until spreading consistency.

9If icing gets too thick, add a little milk.

10This covers a 2-layer cake.
