- 1 cup sugar
- 4 -5 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon shortening
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions

1Spread sugar in frying pan and stir until caramelized.

2Add the water and simmer until sugar and water form a caramel sauce.

3Meanwhile, boil the raisins with the water and the shortening.

4Mix the first four ingredients together.

5Add the vanilla to the raisin mixture, and then add this to the flour mixture.

6Stir together.

7Put sauce in 9x13 pan and add the batter by spoonfuls over the top.

8Bake at 350 degrees till warm and bubbly, approximately 30 minutes.

9Serve with whipped cream or ice cream over the top.
