Caramel Walnut Bars

- 2 c. unsifted flour
- 3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 c. cold margarine or butter
- 3/4 c. walnuts, chopped
- 24 Eagle Brand caramels
- 1 (14 oz.) can condensed milk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Combine flour, sugar and egg.

3Cut in 1/2 cup butter until crumbly.

4Stir in walnuts.

5Reserve 2 cups crumb mixture; press remaining firmly on bottom of greased 9 x 12-inch pan.

6Bake 15 minutes.

7Melt caramels in heavy pan with condensed milk and 1/4 cup butter.

8Pour over prepared crust soon as it comes out of oven (15 minutes).

9Top with reserved crumbs. Bake 20 minutes more (until bubbly).

10Cool.

11Cut into bars.

12Store at room temperature loosely covered.
