  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) slivered almonds
  • 2 tbsp (25 mL) granulated sugar

Directions

    In a small frying pan, cook almonds and sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is melted and almonds are coated and lightly browned.

    Set aside to cool then separate.

    Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

    Variation: Substitute pecan halves, pine nuts or a mixture of nuts for the almonds.
