Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. light syrup (Karo)
  • few grains of salt
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 2 c. undiluted evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Combine sugar, syrup and salt and boil, stirring occasionally, until syrup is very thick (at least 20 minutes).

    Add margarine and slowly stir in milk.

    Stir constantly.

    Cook rapidly to firm ball stage.

    Add vanilla and pour into buttered cookie sheet.

    Let cool slightly, then cut or break into bite size pieces.

    Wrap these in wax paper.

    Makes about 100 pieces.
