- 3 lb. brown beans (white if you like)
- 1 small pkg. cubed ham (about 1 lb.)
- 1 small pkg. ham hocks

1Start the night before you cook beans. Clean beans thoroughly, getting all the rocks and dirt out of them.

2I don't like doing this part so I get Claudia to do this.

3After beans are cleaned, soak overnight in water.

4After the chicken crows and you've had a couple cups of coffee, put beans and water they soaked in all night in a pan large enough to hold it all.

5Put on stove and light fire. Add ham hocks and cubed ham at this time.

6If you have an electric roaster, cook in this; that's what I prefer. Cook beans all day, stirring occasionally, and adding water as needed. Now these beans will be fit for supper with your favorite cornbread and some fried taters and onions.

7And don't forget some sliced fresh onions.
