- 1 Tbsp. cornmeal
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 pkg. quick rising active dry yeast
- 1/4 tsp. onion powder
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. margarine or butter
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1/3 c. cornmeal
Directions

1Grease an 8 x 4 x 2-inch loaf pan.

2Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of cornmeal; set aside.

3In a large bowl, stir together 1 1/2 cups of flour, yeast, onion powder and pepper; set aside.

4In small saucepan, combine milk, sugar, margarine and salt.

5Heat and stir just until mixture is warm and margarine is almost melted.

6Add warm mixture to flour mixture.

7Add eggs; beat with mixer on low-medium speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl.

8Beat on high 3 minutes.

9Stir in cheese and the 1/2 cup cornmeal.

10Stir in remaining flour; batter will be soft and sticky. Turn into prepared pan.

11Cover and rise in warm place until nearly doubled (20 minutes).

12Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 40 minutes.

13If necessary, cover with foil last 15 minutes to prevent overbrowning.

14Remove bread from pan; cool.
