- 2 c. alll purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 - 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/2 c. cold butter
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. shredded cheese
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425°.

2In bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cayenne pepper.

3Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4Add the cheese and toss.

5Stir in buttermilk until mixture is moistened.

6Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead 8-10 times.

7Pat or roll to 1 inch thickness; cut with floured 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter.

8Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet.

9Bake at 425° for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.

10Yields 6-8 biscuits.
