- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup water warm
- 1 package yeast, active dry
- 1 cup milk warm
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 each eggs beaten
- 4 cups flour, all-purpose
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, very old, sharp shredded
- 1 tablespoon salt
Directions

1Dissolve sugar in warm water in large mixer bowl.

2Sprinkle in yeast.

3Let stand 10 minutes, then stir well.

4Stir in warm milk, butter and beaten egg.

5Combine 2 cups flour, cheese and salt.

6Stir well to blend.

7Add flour cheese mixture and beat with electric mixer on medium speed for 5 minutes.

8Add remaining flour, beating well with wooden spoon.

9Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled (about 45 minutes).

10Stir down and turn into two well greased 1 quart casseroles.

11Let rise until doubled (about 30 minutes).

12Bake at 375F (190C) for 30 to 40 minutes.

13Remove from casseroles immediately and cool on wire racks.
