- 1 2/3 c. plain flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. Cheddar cheese
Directions

1Shred Cheddar cheese.

2Combine dry ingredients.

3Cut in shortening.

4Stir in cheese and add buttermilk.

5Stir until dough clings together.

6Knead dough lightly and roll into 12-inch circle.

7Cut into 8 wedges.

8Begin at wide end of wedge and roll toward point.

9Place biscuit (point side down) on a greased baking sheet and bake at 450° for 12 to 14 minutes.

10Yields 8 biscuits.
