Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 c. hot scalded milk
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/2 to 4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 to 1 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese in 3/4-inch cubes

Directions

    Soften yeast in warm water.

    Combine hot milk, margarine, sugar and salt in a large mixing bowl.

    Let cool.

    Add egg and yeast.

    Gradually add flour to form a stiff dough.

    Let rise in warm place until double in size (about 2 hours).

    Mash down and make into rolls with a cube of cheese in center of roll.

    Be sure dough is sealed around cheese.

    Place on greased baking pan and let rise again to about double in size.

    Bake in 400° oven until golden brown.
