- 2 Tbsp. vegetable shortening or drippings
- 2 c. corn meal
- 2 to 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1 egg
- 1 c. whole kernel corn, drained
- 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions

1In a 10-inch ovenproof skillet or a 9-inch square pan, melt shortening in a 425° oven.

2Combine dry ingredients, using 2 to 4 tablespoons of sugar according to taste.

3Add remaining ingredients.

4Stir in melted shortening; mix well.

5Pour into hot prepared skillet.

6Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or

7until light, golden brown.
