- 1/4 c. soft margarine
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 (1 lb.) can pitted sour cherries
- 1/4 to 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. fruit syrup plus water
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

2Sift dry ingredients together.

3Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk; beat until smooth.

4Pour into 9 x 5 x 3-inch cake pan or 9 x 13-inch or 2-quart casserole baking dish.

5Spoon drained cherries over batter.

6Sprinkle with sugar.

7Pour fruit juice and water (1 cup) over top.

8Bake at 375° for 45 to 50 minutes.
