Cherry Fruit Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. can pitted dark sweet cherries or 1 lb. frozen dark cherries, thawed
  • 2 (3 oz.) pkg. cherry flavored jello
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 2 (8 1/4 oz.) cans crushed pineapple with juice
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

    Drain cherries.

    Measure juice; add water to make 1 cup. Dissolve jello in boiling water; add measured liquid and undrained pineapple.

    Chill until thickened.

    Stir in cherries; chill until firm (4 hours).

    Use for salad to accompany ham.

    Use for dessert by omitting celery.

    Makes 12 to 14 servings.
