- 1 c. butter, soft
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. cherry syrup
- 1/4 tsp. almond extract
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- cherries, halved
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar.

2Blend in egg, syrup and extract.

3Stir together flour, soda, cream of tartar and 1/4 teaspoon salt.

4Stir into creamed mixture; stir in nuts.

5Shape dough into 9-inch roll. Wrap in waxed paper.

6Chill well.

7Cut into 1/4 inch slices.

8Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

9Lightly press a well drained red cherry half in center of each cookie.

10Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes.
