- 2 cans pitted tart cherries
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. cornstarch
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 2 pie shells
Directions

1Drain cherries, reserving juice (1 cup).

2Mix cherries and 1/2 cup sugar and set aside.

3Combine 3/4 cup sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and salt in a medium saucepan.

4Stir until all lumps are dissolved; gradually add cherry juice.

5Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and thick.

6Remove from heat and stir in cherries.

7Add margarine and almond flavoring.

8Pour into pie crust.

9Cover with top crust.

10You can butter top crust to make it brown better.

11Cut slits in top crust.

12Bake at 400° for 30 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.
