Cherry Pie In Casserole

  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 can pie cherries
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • cherry juice plus water to equal 1 c.

Directions

    Grease 1 1/2-inch casserole dish.

    Cream shortening and sugar. Add dry ingredients.

    Mixture will be crumbly.

    Add milk and mix into a stiff dough.

    Spread dough into bottom of casserole.

    Pour cherries over the dough.

    Sprinkle with 3/4 cup sugar and pour juice over top evenly.

    Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 45 to 60 minutes.
