- 2 sticks margarine
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 3/4 c. milk and cherry juice (to make 1 c.)
- 3 3/4 c. plain flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 (10 oz.) maraschino cherries
Directions

1Cream margarine, shortening and sugar until light.

2Add eggs, one at a time.

3Mix together milk and cherry juice.

4Measure sifted flour and add to first mixture alternately with cherry-milk mixture.

5Add 1 teaspoon vanilla.

6Stir in half of the cherries. Reserve the rest of cherries for icing.

7Bake at 300° for 1 1/2 hours.
