Cherry Pound Cake

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 tsp. almond flavoring
  • 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
  • 1/2 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries
  • 3 3/4 c. flour, sifted (plain or cake)
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • cherry juice
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. pecans, chopped

Directions

    Cream butter, shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time. Mix baking powder and flour.

    Add to creamed mixture, alternating with milk and cherry juice.

    Add cherries, flavorings and nuts. Pour batter into well-greased and floured tube pan.

    Bake 1 1/2 hours in 325° oven.

    Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan. Frost.
