  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 c. cherries

Directions

    Sift the flour with the salt, sugar and baking powder. Rub in the shortening. Beat the egg until light, without separating.

    Add the milk and pour it into the flour.

    Beat thoroughly. Add cherries and pour at once into a shallow greased pan. Bake 30 minutes in a hot oven. Serve hot with sugar and cream.
