- 1/2 lb. butter (1 c.)
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 c. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 cans cherry pie filling
Directions

1Cream butter thoroughly.

2Add sugar and beat well.

3Add eggs one at a time.

4Add vanilla.

5Sift flour with baking powder and salt.

6Add sifted dry ingredients gradually, beating well.

7Spread in a large 11 x 17-inch greased pan, saving a little more than a cup of batter.

8Spread cherry pie filling to within half-inch from edges of pan.

9Place remaining dough by spoonfuls over the cherry filling.

10Bake at 350° for about 45 minutes.

11When cooked, sprinkle with powdered sugar.

12Makes about 30 slices.
