  • 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. double-acting baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 c. dates
  • 1/3 c. maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
  • 2 1/2 c. Kellogg's corn flakes, crushed

    Sift together first 4 ingredients.

    Blend together Crisco and sugar, creaming well.

    Add milk and vanilla.

    Blend in the dry ingredients gradually.

    Mix. Add pecans, dates and maraschino cherries; mix.

    Drop rounded teaspoonfuls into 2 1/2 cups crushed corn flakes.

    Toss lightly to coat.

    Form into balls.

    Place on ungreased baking sheet.

    Top each with 1/4 maraschino cherry.

    Bake at 375° for 12 to 15 minutes.
