Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. peanut oil
  • 4 green onions, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh ginger root, peeled and minced
  • 1 lb. boneless beef chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/3 c. dry sherry
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. dried red pepper flakes

Directions

    Heat oil in skillet or wok.

    Add onions and ginger root, stir-fry 1 minute.

    Add beef, stir-fry 2 minutes or until brown. In a separate bowl, mix together sugar, soy sauce, sherry, water and red pepper flakes until sugar dissolves.

    Add to wok.

    Lower heat and simmer (covered) for 30 minutes.

    Uncover, increase heat to high, cook until sauce thickens, about 30 minutes.

    Remove from skillet or wok.

    Serve hot.
