- 1 whole chicken, deboned
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. shortening
- ice water
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
Directions

1Boil chicken 1 1/2 hours.

2Cut shortening into flour.

3Remove chicken from broth.

4Pour 1/3 cup broth into shortening and flour. Boil remaining broth.

5Add ice water to flour mixture until it makes a thick ball.

6Salt and pepper broth to taste.

7Roll dough out 1/8 inch.

8(Note: Harder the dough, better the dumpling.)

9Cut dumplings in strips and put in broth.

10Boil 8 minutes.

11Pick chicken off bone and put in broth.

12Do not stir chicken to bottom. Cook until chicken is warm.
