  • 1/4 c. oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 or 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp. oregano or basil
  • 1 (3 lb.) chicken breast, cut up
  • 2 medium onions, cut in 1/4-inch slices
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 large can tomatoes
  • 1/4 c. cooking Sauterne

    Heat oil in skillet.

    Add chicken and brown slowly.

    Remove chicken from skillet.

    Cook onions and garlic until tender. Combine remaining ingredients, except wine.

    Return chicken to skillet and simmer for 45 minutes.

    Stir in wine.

    Cook, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
