- 1 (2 1/2 to 3 lb.) fryer
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. celery seed
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 or 2 bay leaves
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 c. dry white wine
Directions

1In skillet, brown chicken in oil.

2Remove the chicken.

3In same skillet, cook the onions and garlic until tender.

4Return chicken to skillet.

5Combine undrained tomatoes and rest of ingredients.

6Pour over chicken.

7Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Stir in wine and cook, uncovered, for 15 minutes.

8Turn often. Remove bay leaves before serving.
