- 1 1/2 c. white cornmeal
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- salt to taste
- 1/2 c. melted shortening
- 1 can cream-style corn
- 3/4 c. milk
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3 cans green chilies, chopped
- 2 c. grated cheese
Directions

1Mix all ingredients except cheese and chilies .

2Pour half of batter in iron skillet.

3Cover with half of the cheese and chili peppers.

4Cover with rest of the batter and top with rest of cheese and peppers.

5Bake at 400° for 45 minutes. Cool 10 minutes before removing from skillet.
