Chocolate Balls

Ingredients

  • 4 oz cream cheese, chopped
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 12 oz pound cake, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup ground almonds, toasted
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 1 tbsp vegetable shortening
  • 1/4 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

    Line a baking pan with foil. Beat cream cheese and Nutella in a large bowl with an electric mixer until smooth. Mix in cake crumbs and almonds. Refrigerate until firm enough to handle.

    Roll tablespoonfuls of mixture into balls. Arrange on prepared pan.

    Melt chocolate and vegetable shortening in a small saucepan on low heat, stirring. Remove from heat.

    Using 2 forks, coat balls in the chocolate mixture. Toss chocolate balls in coconut or cocoa powder. Refrigerate until firm. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Pack into boxes as a gift.
