Chocolate Bread Pudding

  • 1 qt. milk, scalded
  • 2 c. day-old bread cubes
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted

Directions

    Pour milk over bread.

    Add salt and sugar.

    Beat eggs, add to bread mixture with butter, melted chocolate and vanilla.

    Mix well. Pour into 1 1/2-quart greased casserole.

    Sit casserole in pan and fill to 1-inch top of casserole.

    Cover.

    Bake at 325° for 50 to 60 minutes until knife comes out clean.
