  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. vegetable oil
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. hot water

Directions

    In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Stir in the oil, buttermilk and eggs. Add the water and stir until well mixed. Pour into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 35 to 38 minutes or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Frost with the following Caramel Icing.
