- 1 1/2 c. white sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. flour
- 1/4 c. boiling water
- 3 egg whites, beaten
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. cake flour
- 2 sq. chocolate
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cream sugar and butter together and add egg yolks; beat. Dissolve soda in buttermilk.

2Sift cake flour and regular flour. Add the flour and the buttermilk alternately to the sugar, butter and egg mixture.

3Mix well.

4Melt chocolate in boiling water; stir until chocolate is all melted, then add to cake mixture.

5Add vanilla and mix well.

6And lastly, add the egg whites.

7Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.

8This makes 1 large cake or 2 squares.
