Chocolate Caramel Bars

  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • about 35 caramels
  • 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 c. chocolate chips
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. pecans, chopped up

Directions

    Melt caramels in top of a double boiler with the margarine and milk.

    Stir and set aside.

    Mix cake mix according to package directions.

    Pour 1/2 of this batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake for 20 minutes at 350°.

    When baked, pour caramel mixture over evenly and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over caramel layer.

    Put nuts on top of chips.

    Add remaining batter and bake for 30 more minutes at 350°.

    Cut in bars when cooled.
