Chocolate Caramel Nut Bars

- 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels
- 2/3 c. evaporated milk
- 1 German chocolate cake mix (with pudding)
- 1/2 c. melted margarine
- 1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Directions

1Melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk over low heat, stirring until smooth.

2Set aside.

3Combine remaining milk, cake mix and margarine; mix well.

4Press 1/2 the cake mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

5Bake at 350° for 6 minutes.

6Sprinkle nuts and chips over cake.

7Pour melted caramels over this.

8Top with teaspoonfuls of remaining cake mix, pressing gently into caramel.

9Add remaining nuts, pressing gently.

10Bake for 20 minutes.

11Cool slightly and cut into bars.
