Chocolate Covered Cherries

- 6 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 2 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. milk
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla
- about 48 maraschino cherries with stems
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
- 1 Tbsp. shortening (paraffin can be used)
Directions

1Cream butter; add sugar gradually.

2Mix well.

3Add milk and vanilla; mix well.

4Chill about 2 hours.

5Drain cherries.

6Pat dry with paper towel.

7Shape small amount of sugar mixture around cherries.

8(Make sure to keep sugar mixture on ice while shaping the mixture around the cherries.)

9Allow cherries to chill about 2 to 3 hours.
