- 1 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. flour or 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 (1 oz.) sq. baking chocolate
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 c. milk
- 3 slightly beaten egg yolks
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 (9-inch) pastry pie shell
Directions

1In saucepan, combine sugar, flour and salt.

2Gradually stir in milk.

3Add chopped up chocolate squares.

4Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens.

5Cook 2 minutes longer.

6Remove from heat.

7Stir small amounts of hot mixture into yolks.

8Return to hot mixture.

9Cook 2 minutes more, stirring constantly.

10Remove from heat.

11Add butter and vanilla.

12Cool and pour into baked pastry shell.

13Add meringue and bake until golden brown.
