Ingredients: 1/2 c. granulated sugar; 1/4 c. packed brown sugar; 1/4 c. shortening; 1/4 c. margarine or butter, softened; 1/2 tsp. vanilla; 1 egg; 1 2/3 c. flour; 1/2 tsp. baking soda; 1/4 tsp. salt; 3 doz. chocolate stars

1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. margarine or butter, softened
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 2/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3 doz. chocolate stars

Set oven to 400°.

Mix sugars, shortening, margarine, vanilla and egg in large bowl.

Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. Mold 2 level teaspoons of dough around each star.

Place dough about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake until light brown, 6 to 7 minutes.
