Chocolate Mousse

- 12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/3 c. brandy
- 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
- 1 c. sugar, divided
- 4 egg yolks, beaten
- 1 1/2 c. heavy cream
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 6 egg whites
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
Directions

1In top of double boiler, combine water, brandy, gelatin, 1/2 cup sugar and chocolate.

2Heat until mixture is smooth and well blended.

3Remove from heat and allow mixture to cool until it mounds with a spoon (stir frequently with a wire whisk).

4While chocolate mixture is cooking, beat egg whites until soft peaks form.

5Add cream of tartar and gradually beat in 1/2 cup sugar, beat until stiff peaks form; set aside.
