- 1 c. butter or margarine (room temperature)
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 5 heaping Tbsp. cocoa powder
- 1 c. milk
- 2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Preheat oven to 325°.

2Grease, and instead of flour, coat pan with cocoa powder, a 10-inch tube pan.

3Cream butter and shortening.

4Gradually beat in sugar.

5Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each.

6Combine flour and dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk.

7Add vanilla and beat until smooth. Bake for 1 hour and 25 minutes.

8Next day serving is best.
