Chocolate Pound Cake

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sweet milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Cream butter, Crisco and sugar.

    Beat until light and fluffy, then add eggs, one at a time.

    Beat well after each addition. Sift together 3 cups flour, cocoa and salt.

    Add alternately to mixture with milk, then add vanilla.

    Bake in a greased tube pan at 325° for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until cake tests done.

    May be frosted, if desired.
