  • 1/2 lb. butter (1 c.)
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. oil
  • 5 eggs
  • 5 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Have all ingredients at room temperature.

    Cream the butter, oil and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder. Add flour mixture alternately with milk to cream mixture. Add vanilla; blend well. Turn into a greased and floured 9-inch tube pan. Bake in preheated oven at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
