- 3 sticks butter or margarine
- 3 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 c. flour
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together.

2Cream butter and sugar until very light.

3Add 4 of the eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.

4Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to the creamed mixture.

5Add the vanilla, then thoroughly beat the last egg into the batter.

6Pour into 10-inch tube pan that has been greased and lightly floured.

7Bake in 325° oven for 1 1/2 hours.

8Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out on cake rack and finish cooling.
