Chow Mein

  • 2 Tbsp. Crisco
  • 1 1/2 lb. cubed chicken or pork
  • 2 c. onions, diced
  • 2 c. celery, diced
  • 1 large can La Choy bean sprouts
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp. La Choy soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. sugar

Directions

    Cook meat 10 minutes in Crisco. Add onions. Cook 10 more minutes. Add celery and cook 10 more minutes. Add 1 1/2 cups water. Simmer until celery is tender.

    Drain bean sprouts and add to vegetables and bring to a boil.

    Combine the 1/3 cup water, cornstarch, soy sauce and sugar.

    Add cornstarch mixture and cook until clear.

    Cook 1 cup rice.

    Serve with rice and chow mein noodles.
