Ingredients

  • 14 cup butter
  • 14 cup shortening
  • 34 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 23 cups all-purpose flour
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon baking powder
  • 14 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 cup sour cream
  • 34 cup finely chopped walnuts or 34 cup pecans
  • 13 cup seedless strawberry jam or 13 cup raspberry jam

Directions

    In a large bowl, cream the butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.

    Beat in egg and vanilla.

    Combine the flour salt, baking powder, and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture alternatively with sour cream, beating after each addition on a low speed.

    Shape into 10 1 1/4 inch balls, roll in nuts.

    Place 2 in apart on greased baking sheets.

    Using the end of a wooden spoon handle, make a 3/8 to 1/2 in deep indentation in the center of each ball.

    FIll with jam.

    Bake at 350F for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.

    Remove to wire racks to cool.
