Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 yolks
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 dry yeast-1/4 c. warm water
  • 2 c. scalded milk
  • 8 1/2 c. flour (use all purpose non sifted)

    Mix milk, sugar and salt; let cool.

    Add beaten eggs, yolk, shortening, and nutmeg.

    Add about 6 cups flour.

    Add yeast water. Roll on board, kneading in rest of flour (about 10 min.).

    Let rise till double, punch down.

    Let rise then roll out 1/2-inch thick. Cut in strips about 2x4.

    Let rise 1 hour.

    Deep fry at 375°.
