Ingredients

  • 2 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 c. plus 1 Tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • flavoring oils (cinnamon, peppermint, orange, etc.)
  • food coloring (red, green, etc.)

Directions

    Mix sugar, syrup and water.

    Cook to 278°.

    Add flavoring (1/4 teaspoon) and coloring (1/4 teaspoon).

    Pour immediately onto a buttered marble (or other smooth, heat absorbing marble surface). Use a knife and cut into 3/4-inch lengths, then snip into bite size pieces with kitchen scissors.

    Butter hands to work with candy.
