  • 1 scant c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 scant tsp. soda, dissolved in 2 Tbsp. hot water
  • 1 lb. raisins
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. candied cherries
  • 1 lb. nuts
  • 1 lb. dates
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • pinch of salt

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and blend well.

    Add soda which has been dissolved in water.
  3. 3
    Combine remaining ingredients and add to mixture.
  4. 4
    Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased baking sheet. Bake about 5 to 8 minutes in 350° oven.

    Use half red and half green candied cherries for more color.
  6. 6
    You can use half black and half English walnuts if you like.
