Chuck Wagon Beans

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. bacon slices
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 medium onions, minced
  • 1 c. finely chopped celery
  • 3 lb. ground beef
  • 1 1/2 c. catsup
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 3 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 2/3 c. beef broth
  • 2 (1 lb. 13 oz.) cans pork and beans without molasses

Directions

    In Dutch oven, fry bacon until crisp.

    Remove and drain pan. In same pan saute ground beef, onion and celery until meat is brown and onion is tender.

    Stir in remaining ingredients, crumbling bacon on top of beans.

    Cover.

    Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes at 375°.

    This serves quite a few people.

    Can be reduced in quantity if too much.
