Ingredients
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. hot milk
- 4 to 5 c. flour
- 2 eggs
Directions

1Soften yeast in water for 5 minutes.

2Stir until blended. Measure sugar, salt and shortening into a mixing bowl.

3Add hot milk and stir.

4Cool to lukewarm.

5Stir in 2 cups flour to make a thick batter and beat until smooth.

6Add yeast and eggs.

7Stir until well blended.

8Stir in 1 1/2 to 2 cups more flour and work in enough additional flour to make a dough that does not stick to fingers.

9Turn dough onto lightly floured board and knead for 2 minutes, until dough is springy and elastic.

10Shape into a ball and put into a bowl rubbed with shortening.

11Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk.
