- 6 or more clams, chopped fine (save liquid)
- 1/4 lb. bacon or salt pork
- 2 medium onions, diced
- 2 1/2 c. raw potatoes, diced
- 1/2 c. celery, diced
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. white pepper
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1 qt. milk
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- cornstarch (optional)
Directions

1Cook bacon or salt pork until crisp.

2Add onions.

3Saute about 5 minutes.

4Add potatoes and celery with seasonings.

5Add water. Cover and simmer about 10 minutes.

6Add chopped clams, liquid, then milk and butter.

7Heat and thicken with cornstarch, if desired.

8Stir constantly until creamy.
